An 1891 map shows this near the Picacho Mine location. The mine is named for Andrew Johnson, who became the 17th President of the United States after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. This is shown as private land on the BLM Coalinga map. The mine was worked by an open cut and was noted for the amount of native mercury often taken from the mine; as much as a pint being taken at times from one spot. The mine stopped production in 1917.
