What's Behind that Name ...

Blue Turn

The serpentine ridge extending approximately east from Santa Rita Peak to the northwest edge of Wright Mountain. A name used by many old locals for the ridge area from Spanish Lake, east to Wright Mountain. The name refers to the pale blue color of the soil and rocks along this portion of the ridge. The color is caused by the exposed serpentine rock that is so common here. This term is not in widely use and has not been found on any maps.
