James Corbett Byles Mine

Located at N36° 18.552; W120° 33.276 at 3907 feet and named on the Santa Rita Peak 7.5' quadrangle. Benny Byles mined cinnabar here beginning in the 1900s. Later, in 1953, chromite was discovered here and Benny formed a partnership with Jack James and James Corbett to create the James Corbett Byles mines.
