What's Behind that Name ...

Los Gatos Creek County Park

Named on the Sherman Peaks 7.5' quadrangle at N36° 13.772; N120° 34.335 at 1604 feet. The park opened in September 27, 1964. There is a large spring here that is not shown on maps. The spring is locally known as Sherman Spring, name after nearby Sherman Peak. The park is built upon a large ancient Indian habitation site. This was one of the largest most dependable springs in the area before modern society tapped the aquifer with private wells and greater water usage.
