McCoy Canyon

The origin of this name is still unknown, but we know the name is in use 1869 because it is mentioned in the Mathews Diary entry for July 10, 1870.

This is the canyon where Henry Chambers was attacked by a grizzly that lead to his death. The grizzly bears were so bad in this canyon that they ran all of the early settlers out.
