Ne Hi CanyonNamed on Joaquin Rocks 7.5' quadrangle. Charlie Akers and Harry Trout were gathering cattle in this canyon of very hot day. While complaining about the hot miserable conditions, they surprisingly discovered a bottle of Orange Nehi soda lying in a shaded place on the ground. They split the soda and named the canyon Nehi Canyon. Nobody knows where the Nehi soda came from, but it was likely left by a person who was part of one of the Dómengine tours. Broken Nehi and Royal Crown bottles can be found around the Joaquin Rocks area. |
