What's Behind that Name ...

Wright Mountain

Named on Santa Rita Peak 7.5' quadrangle at N36° 19.642; W120° 32.179 at 4550 feet. Also named on a 1915 map. Named by the Wright brothers who prospected the area in the late 1800s. The name probably commemorates Wilson Wright who had a nearby land patient and died there in 1908.

Dick Wright Spring is about ¾ mile south of Wright Mountain.

Wright Mountain is also the location of at least two small airplane crashes, one in 1943 and another in 1993.
